Action Man vs HM Armed Forces : I love HM Armed Forces...

    Author: Anne
Subject: I love HM Armed Forces...
Posted: 01 Jan 2010 at 4:12am

This action figure is great. I appears to be well-made and sturdy.

The feet / shoes are like those of Bratz dolls, which does add an air of disbelief when you may need to remove the feet in order to get the trousers off. However, our knit4dolls trousers can be taken off the toy while it still has its shoes on... Likewise jackets and T-shirts can be removed while the hands are still attached...

I was pleased to see that the figure is wearing underwear. Barbie has her undies embossed onto her; Bratz have theirs painted on; Action Man doesn't wear any, but hasn't got anything to cover up anyway; whereas HM Armed Forces has green vest and pants incorporated into the moulding. This approach makes the figures lifelike and does away with any explanations.

It is unfortunate however, from a knitting point of view, that the vest has short sleeves and a neckline. The sleeveless vest that was very handy for Action Man, couldn't be used for HM Armed Forces because the green sleeves of the vest would have shown. The neckline of the green vest is not a great problem but it does show sometimes around the neckline of T-shirts and jumpers.

Nevertheless I think that it is a really great toy!

As a child I never ever finished knitting anything! See how your grandaughter gets on with our patterns. The smallest things don't take long, and if she goes wrong, then it won't take too long to help her out. They really are very simple.

Let us know how it goes, for her, and you!
